March 5, 2016 : Hold Me Walter, Hold Me Perry

I came upon this at an overpass near me (Randolph Street over 90/94). Being a big fan of Home Movies, it definitely brought a smile to my face.

In case you want a closer look:

It’s a pretty random graffiti stamp since Walter and Perry were pretty minor recurring characters. Although, the image might be more about being kind and affectionate.

After seeing this, I did some Home Movies Wiki surfing. The article said, “it is suggested in a DVD Commentary Track that they (Walter and Perry) may be the only truly happy characters in the series.” Not sure how accurate this is, but it was an interesting idea.

In either case, the final episode of Home Movies aired almost 12 years ago, and I still quote it quite a bit. It’s times like this, I wish Adult Swim would put it back on its schedule. I guess there just isn’t enough room for it and all the Tim & Eric shows…

November 23, 2010 : Bob’s Burgers – Loren Bouchard’s Latest

It’s been under the radar, but FOX has started airing commercials for its new animated series, Bob’s Burgers.

American Dad's replacement?

I’m not sure what to think of this show. FOX claims it will fill the void of King Of The Hill (ugh…). However, the show was created by Loren Bouchard – who was involved with Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist and also co-created Home Movies and Lucy, The Daughter Of The Devil. So I guess it can go either way. As with all of the previously mentioned  shows, H. Jon Benjamin stars in it; and that’s always a good thing (by the way, new Archer airs in January).

FOX will air a ‘sampling’ of Bob’s Burgers this Thursday (not sure what that means, either) after the premiere of The Simpsons Movie. Regular episodes will start up in January – as expected, on Sundays. As a midseason show, it could easily be over after a season; but I’d prefer new episodes of Bob’s Burgers over reruns of any show on the current Animation Domination lineup (except for possibly American Dad).

August 21, 2009 : FX Kicking It Up A Notch

Like many basic cable networks, FX is trying to expand it’s original programming slate. Until now it predominantly aired dramas, which is odd since everybody knows that is TNT’s bag – after all, they know drama.

FX already has one of my favorite shows in It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.

This pic always cracks me up

As a side note, the new season premieres September 17 (insert giddy school girl laugh here).

Recently, FX has worked on getting new comedies to complement Sunny and build its comedic schedule. One show of note, is “Louie” – which stars the hilarious Louis C.K. He also will serve as executive producer, writer, and director of the series. The show is expected to come out in early 2010. An interesting side note: Louis C.K. portrayed Brendon Small’s estranged father in Home Movies.

Speaking of animated shows (one that was on Cartoon Network), another show that FX has greenlit is Archer. It’s creator is Adam Reed who co-created Adult Swim shows Sealab 2021 and Frisky Dingo. The cast is pretty stellar, including H. Jon Benjamin (the Home Movies comment earlier seems that much cooler now, doesn’t it?), Chris Parnell, and two Arrested Development alums: Jessica Walter (Lucille Bluth) and Judy Greer (Kitty). FX ordered 6 episodes of Archer, which should air this fall. By the way, the above link about the show also has a two minute clip for the show.
