February 10, 2011 : Sym-Bionic Titan’s New Season… Already Underway
I totally forgot to mention this, but Sym-Bionic Titan’s new season has already started – and it’s on a new night! The second episode of the sophomore season aired yesterday.
While I don’t know why the show was moved from Fridays to Wednesdays, it seems to have been a pretty good idea thus far – at least, according to Wikipedia, which says the season premiere drew in higher ratings than any of the Season One episodes. A third season has yet to be greenlit, but hopefully that will take place sooner rather than later. Production times for these episodes are fairly high; and understandably so, considering the quality of each episode.
While Titan’s standalone episodes are often entertaining, this season needs to flesh out more of the underlying mythology that was touched upon during Season One. Ideally, this will include development of the G3 Organization on Earth as well as General Modula on Galaluna.
An interesting side note that I just learned, the setting of the show is apparently in Sherman, Illinois – a town nearby Springfield, IL.

January 30, 2011 : Stuffed – Now On YouTube
Thanks to everyone for their compliments on Stuffed – it’s good to hear people aren’t too displeased with my treatment of Care Bears. In addition to putting the short on Vimeo, I am pleased to announced that Stuffed in now on YouTube. Check it out and tell your friends:
Originally, the short was put on Vimeo because I believed the video quality on YouTube would have been sub-par. In the past, I felt YouTube compressed animations way too much – resulting in semi-pixelated videos. Either I was doing things incorrectly or things have been improved because YouTube now has the ability to upload HD videos – and without any noticeable degradation in the quality of the video.
Obviously, YouTube is a lot more recognizable than Vimeo. So I am glad Stuffed can now be viewed on it without the quality suffering.

January 25, 2011 : Stuffed – Released
Spilled My Drink’s latest has been released and can be seen on Vimeo. It will be the best 5 minutes of your life (of course that assumes you’ve lead a really pathetic existence thus far).
This is Spilled My Drink Productions’ first project in HD. Below is the logline for the short:
Animated short about a nerdy teenager and his best friend – who happens to be a stuffed bear.
Enjoy… and be sure to tell your friends.

January 20, 2011 : Death Note – U.S. Style
Japan already made a live action version of Death Note back in 2006. Warner Bros., who distributed the Japanese film, apparently wants to take a stab at it, and they have already signed on a director.
My main beef with the Japanese live action movie was that it didn’t stay true to the manga. Shane Black, the director for this adaptation, has stated Death Note is his favorite manga. So hopefully this means he will stay true to the original story.

January 13, 2011 : ‘Stuffed’ Nearly Complete
Below is one of the characters from the upcoming short from Spilled My Drink Productions. The working title is currently ‘Stuffed’.
So why is he smiling, you ask? It’s because Stuffed is almost complete. Besides some sound editing and a few tweaks to the final 3D renders, everything else is just about finished. An unofficial Final Copy is set to be rendered within days… time to get giddy!
Just a reminder, the short will be in High Definition – and the plan will be to host it on Vimeo.

January 6, 2011 : Archer Bob’s Alchemy Premieres
The cold weather got you down? Fear not, January is riddled with premieres guaranteed to lift the spirits, and it all starts this weekend!
– Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood’s new season starts back up this Saturday. With Bleach’s horrible filler episodes (aka the Captain Amagai Saga) currently airing, FMAB is by far the best anime Adult Swim has to offer.
– Bob’s Burgers finally premieres on FOX this Sunday. If you’ve watched ten minutes of FOX in the last month, you’ve no doubt seen commercials for the show. If only they pimped out American Dad that much. Oh well… with H. Jon Benjamin involved, I’ll keep an open mind.
– Speaking of Mr. Benjamin, Archer’s second season kicks off January 27th on FX. The network is finally airing episodes from season 1 – granted, late at night on weekends – but it has reminded me how funny it is.
With respect to the production of SMD’s upcoming short, things are going smoothly (or as much as could be expected). A few more post-production items remain, but it is reasonable to see a finished product in a few weeks.

December 21, 2010 : SMD’s Latest
A previous post showed the new Spilled My Drink Productions Tag (SMD Productions, for short). The clip was made in HD because I am currently finishing up a new short (also in Hi-Def). The premise is different from previous works and will only be ~4 minutes. Below is a preliminary screen shot.
Production is nearly complete – with the exception of a little more facial animation. There’s still a decent amount of post-production work required, but it looks like everything should be done within a few weeks… maybe?

December 14, 2010 : Batman’s Supporting Role
I finally got around to watching the newest Superman/ Batman movie, Apocalypse.
After finding out that Kevin Conroy and Tim Daly were voicing Batman and Superman, it peaked my interest. Unfortunately, the plot was more about Superman and the background of Supergirl. Batman played more of a supporting role, which should never happen. When it comes to story involvement, Batman is like cowbell – more is better.
Besides an alright story, the character design was off putting. They were going for more definition facially, among other things – but it strayed too far from the traditional look and seemed to hurt more than it helped.
With all that said, it was still worth a viewing. After all, it did have Batman in it. Besides, Darkseid’s mythology is somewhat interesting.
I don’t think anymore Batman/Superman movies are currently in development, but it would be sweet to see something with the Joker and/ or Lex Luthor (although that’s been done).

November 29, 2010 : Spilled My Drink Productions
Check out the new and improved (maybe?) Spilled My Drink Productions Video.
There are a few changes from the original clip. Some small… some larger. The biggest change being this video is in glorious HD.
The reason for the update? Two reasons – first off, it’s long overdue. Secondly, a new short is being made, which will also be H-Def. As a result, the Spilled My Drink video needed to be upgraded as well. More on the new short later.

November 23, 2010 : Bob’s Burgers – Loren Bouchard’s Latest
It’s been under the radar, but FOX has started airing commercials for its new animated series, Bob’s Burgers.
I’m not sure what to think of this show. FOX claims it will fill the void of King Of The Hill (ugh…). However, the show was created by Loren Bouchard – who was involved with Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist and also co-created Home Movies and Lucy, The Daughter Of The Devil. So I guess it can go either way. As with all of the previously mentioned shows, H. Jon Benjamin stars in it; and that’s always a good thing (by the way, new Archer airs in January).
FOX will air a ‘sampling’ of Bob’s Burgers this Thursday (not sure what that means, either) after the premiere of The Simpsons Movie. Regular episodes will start up in January – as expected, on Sundays. As a midseason show, it could easily be over after a season; but I’d prefer new episodes of Bob’s Burgers over reruns of any show on the current Animation Domination lineup (except for possibly American Dad).
