February 22, 2020 : Regular Show Storyboarding Process

Always looking for an opportunity to talk about Regular Show, I came across a cool comic, from Sam Spina describing the storyboarding process for the show.

Sam Spina also worked on J.G. Quintel’s upcoming show, Close Enough, which was originally supposed to be part of TBS’ new animation block. That has since been scrapped, but the show has moved to HBO Max and is set to premiere this May.

August 12, 2017 : J.G. Quintel’s Regular Show Follow Up

Full disclosure: I haven’t finished watching Regular Show. While that should happen soon, I admit I am a little behind on the times. Although, there are much older shows on my DVR Queue that also waiting for my time (and possibly interest).

In either case, I have liked Regular Show since it premiered. So I was intrigued when I heard creator J.G. Quintel has a new series on TBS this Fall. Below is a Sneak Peak, which I found funny:

This is clearly geared toward adults, but Quintel’s brand of humor and visual style still resonated. Reading up about the show, which is slated to premiere in either late 2017 or early 2018, I found out TBS has several adult oriented animation series coming out that will accompany American Dad. Not sure how they will all fare, but it’s nice to see TBS getting in on the Animation Fun.

November 18, 2012 : A Cool Article On Regular Show – Yayuh!

Being a fan of Regular Show, I enjoyed reading this interview with creator J.G. Quintel. He discusses his love of everything retro, which explains a lot of the episode content for the show.

The fourth season just started up last month, and it has already been renewed for a fifth season (just happened last week, in fact) – so there are plenty of episodes on the way.

As a side note, while brainstorming Halloween costumes for last month, one suggestion was for me and Moridin to go as Mordecai and Rigby. Unfortunately, that required more time and planning then we had. Perhaps, that’ll be a future costume. While not many people would probably get the costumes, it would be a blast staying in character.

August 1, 2012 : Regular Show’s For Nerds

As a fan of Regular Show, it was cool to read this list of nerd references made in various episodes.

While I remember the episodes mentioned, there were some references that I didn’t catch (or only sorta caught). Still, the list is a reminder of why I love the show. The show has appeal to a pretty broad audience, and the writers do a great job of giving adults a lot to laugh at in addition to what a ten year old finds funny. Either that, or I never really matured.

It might be a mix of the two.

September 15, 2010 : Crotches And Synchronized Watches

Adventure Time has been on the air for nearly six months – and is doing quite well. Now, it has found a programming partner in Regular Show.

One of them is Mordecai... guess which one.

Regular Show is a little more adult than some of Cartoon Network’s other prime time shows, but it does a great job complementing Adventure Time.

As a reminder, Genndy Tartakovsky’s Sym-Bionic Titan premieres this Friday at 8pm (Eastern) .
