Halloween is a great time. <\/span>It allows people who are truly into the holiday to be really creative \u00e2\u20ac\u201c it also allows women an excuse to dress up rather scantily (Jim Gaffigan\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s bit on this is funny<\/a>).<\/p>\n

With this wonderful excuse to play dress up on the horizon, a brief recap of the past few costumes is in order. <\/span>It should be noted that a wedding in 2006 preempted any sort of Halloween plans that year – the wedding was a blast, though.<\/p>\n

2004 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Spike Spiegel. <\/strong>The always cool main character from Cowboy Bebop<\/a> (still my favorite anime series).<\/p>\n

\"Chas,<\/a><\/p>\n

How many people can say they have a picture of Spike, Samurai Jack, and Chas Tenenbaum all in one glorious shot? <\/span>Not many\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s probably a reason for that, though. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n

This one was a blast to do, and as expected, very few people recognized the costume. <\/span>Had I found somebody dressed up as Faye Valentine, I am sure I would have proposed on the spot (yes, Spike and Faye weren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t together\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6but dressing up as Julia would have been even more obscure and unrecognizable than Spike).<\/p>\n

\n

In addition to the outfit, the costume also required green hair. <\/span>Not one to half-ass it, I went all out:<\/p>\n

\"Going<\/a><\/p>\n

\n

It should be pointed out that this was done with semi-permanent hair dye. <\/span>Traces of the color remained for well over a week. <\/span>Don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t think people at the office didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t stare. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

2005 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Hansel. <\/strong>The up-and-coming male model displacing Derek Zoolander.<\/p>\n

\"He's<\/a><\/p>\n

\n

While not in the picture, a scooter was present during the night \u00e2\u20ac\u201c which was definitely the icing for the costume. <\/span>Most people actually got this costume. <\/span>It didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t hurt that Zoolander was hanging out next to me for the bulk of the night. <\/span><\/p>\n

Needless to say, many people repeatedly said, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153that Hansel\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s so hot right now.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d <\/span>The number of times somebody said it and how badly the line was butchered was directly proportional to the amount of alcohol consumed.<\/p>\n

\n

And no\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6unfortunately there was no walk-off that night. <\/span>Definitely a regret of Hansel\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s and Zoolander\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

2006<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

As previously mentioned, a wedding trumped any Halloween plans in 2006. <\/span>In fact, I had three weddings alone in the month of October that year. <\/span>Oh well \u00e2\u20ac\u201c all were a blast. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

2007 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Hank Venture. <\/strong>One of the titular brothers in the hit show, Venture Bros<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\"Go<\/a><\/p>\n

\n

This pose was duplicated many of times during the night \u00e2\u20ac\u201c and always accompanied with the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Go Team Venture!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d catchphrase. <\/span>Even with the Venture Bros being chaperoned by Dr. Girlfriend, few people got the costume. <\/span>Again, not much of a surprise since it is a show on basic cable.<\/p>\n

\n

In case you were wondering, SpongeBob SquarePants watches were sported in lieu of the Venture Communicators. <\/span>FYI, the title of this post was a reference to an episode of Venture Bros.<\/p>\n

\n

While it is always fun to review Halloweens of year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s past, this exercise did have a point. <\/span>All of these costumes required a decent amount of work, creativity, and most importantly, planning.<\/p>\n

\n

Each one was unique. <\/span>Not trendy or clich\u00c3\u00a9 or overdone. <\/span>Therefore it requires a decent amount of thought; and even though Halloween is two months away, by now a few ideas should have already been brainstormed. <\/span>Unfortunately, I am drawing a blank. <\/span>With nothing currently in mind right now, things look grim for the Halloween O\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 2008.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
