My main goal was to reacquaint myself with its shortcuts, interface, and modeling tools. So I created something pretty basic, but I didn&#8217;t want it to be too boring. The end result? A lava lamp, and below is the final render:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/LavaLamp_ver2.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-883  aligncenter\" title=\"Far out, man.\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/LavaLamp_ver2-300x168.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/LavaLamp_ver2-300x168.png 300w, https:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/LavaLamp_ver2.png 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The render isn&#8217;t all that impressive &#8211; the lighting and surfacing could definitely be spruced up. However, I am pleased with the modeling, and that was the main goal for this little exercise. I ended up using Maya&#8217;s standard renderer.
