{"id":144,"date":"2009-02-12T23:08:57","date_gmt":"2009-02-13T05:08:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/news\/?p=144"},"modified":"2009-02-12T23:08:57","modified_gmt":"2009-02-13T05:08:57","slug":"bang","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/news\/2009\/02\/bang\/","title":{"rendered":"Bang!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A few days ago, I received a totally unexpected and awesome gift (thanks <a title=\"Awesome Website!\" href=\"http:\/\/www.moridin.com\" target=\"_blank\">Moridin<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"Awesome... just awesome!\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/img036.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/img036.jpg\" alt=\"Awesome... just awesome!\" width=\"320\" height=\"256\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For those you unaware, it is Spike Spiegel from <a title=\"Awesome Anime!\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cowboy_bebop\" target=\"_blank\">Cowboy Bebop<\/a>. Spike is my favorite anime character, and Bebop is my favorite anime.<\/p>\n<p>The figure is really sweet, and it got me thinking about the series. A running debate is whether or not Spike dies at the end of the series (it&#8217;s not really a spoiler, but sorry for ruining it for anybody). Theories run abound, but it is never stated explicitly either way. This includes Shinichiro Watanabe,\u00c2\u00a0the director.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"Take That!\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/img037.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/02\/img037.jpg\" alt=\"Take That!\" width=\"320\" height=\"256\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Personally, I like to think\u00c2\u00a0Spike died. This might be the less popular view, but it serves best for the series. I am usually not a big fan of sequels (that will be for a later post); and even though sequels can be a great thing for certain franchises, it does not apply to Cowboy Bebop.<\/p>\n<p>Bebop did a great job ending the series. There wasn&#8217;t\u00c2\u00a0definite finality with Spike, but there was\u00c2\u00a0closure with every character; and that is what makes a great story &#8211; whether the medium is anime, movie, or TV show. So while I might be in the minority, I say, &#8220;Rest In Peace, Spike Spiegel. You are a true hero. If you are alive&#8230; I will still watch you and love it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As a side note, I realized I was titling too many posts as questions. I figured the polar opposite would be a pertinent exclamation statement.
