{"id":120,"date":"2008-10-21T13:10:20","date_gmt":"2008-10-21T19:10:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/news\/?p=120"},"modified":"2008-10-21T13:10:20","modified_gmt":"2008-10-21T19:10:20","slug":"hustle-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/news\/2008\/10\/hustle-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Hustle Up!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">After hearing some good reviews about the movie and briefly seeing parts of it at a bar, I decided to finally watch <a title=\"Worth A Peek\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kung_fu_hustle\" target=\"_blank\">Kung Fu Hustle<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 Stephen Chow wrote, directed, produced, and starred in this 2005 flick that eventually became the highest grossing film in the history of Hong Kong &#8211; and supposedly inspired the Dreamworks&#8217; movie <a title=\"It's Comes Full Circle\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/news\/2008\/06\/this-is-an-intriguing-development\" target=\"_blank\">Kung Fu Panda<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The movie is interesting, to say the least.\u00c2\u00a0 It\u00c2\u00a0acts as a parody and homage to Hong Kong Action Cinema &#8211; apparently using\u00c2\u00a0several actors famous from that genre.\u00c2\u00a0 However, not being very familar with those movies did not prove to be an issue for me, nor should it for anybody else.\u00c2\u00a0 Plus, it\u00c2\u00a0did reference many American movies&#8230;including the Matrix Trilogy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a title=\"Agent Smith?\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/kfh.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/kfh.jpg\" alt=\"Agent Smith?\" width=\"350\" height=\"195\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Overall, the movie was quite entertaining&#8230;albeit\u00c2\u00a0odd.\u00c2\u00a0 I equate\u00c2\u00a0it to a live action <a title=\"Do You Like Haruko?\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Flcl\" target=\"_blank\">FLCL<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0(sans the cool Pillows music) due to how surreal it was.\u00c2\u00a0 The special effects was one of the things I heard about frequently and how unique they were.\u00c2\u00a0 And they definitely were, which really adds to the odd factor with the movie.<\/p>\n<p>While the tone is not the same as a Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; it is along the same lines of entertainment (plus, they share the same action choreographer).\u00c2\u00a0 So as long as you enjoy action flicks &#8211; particularly ones that have a flair for creativity &#8211; you should check it out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After hearing some good reviews about the movie and briefly seeing parts of it at a bar, I decided to finally watch Kung Fu Hustle.\u00c2\u00a0 Stephen Chow wrote, directed, produced, and starred in this 2005 flick that eventually became the highest grossing film in the history of Hong Kong &#8211; and supposedly inspired the Dreamworks&#8217; [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[23],"class_list":["post-120","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized","tag-stephen-chow"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/120","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=120"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/120\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=120"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=120"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.pivisuals.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=120"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
